Heigham Park v Hillside away

A warm September morning (please let it continue) and the Heigham squad squared up to Hillside FC. Last season and the season before we have only managed to draw against this determined and well organised team.

Following some warm-up stretches and practice shots on goal we set about the task in hand. As usual the team were putting pressure on Hillside from the start and hit the bar early on. The opposition gave as good as they got and found the Heigham defence wanting on a couple of occasions.

Their breakthrough came when a Hillside player broke through and was able to slip the ball past Ted, who got a hand to it, but couldn't save.

The team didn't seem affected by the goal and carried on playing some great open football with Arthur, Archie R, Sol and Aidan taking the game forward.

Arthur's runs on the right were too much for the Hillside defence and he had soon equalised and then put Heigham in front with two deserved goals. Arthur's hat-trick came from a brilliant set up from Archie R and at half time we were 3 - 1 up.

The Heigham defence, Sam, Max and Evie had worked hard in the first half and continued in the second keeping the hard working Hillside attackers at bay.

Frankie had taken over from Ted in goal who had been unleashed on the unsuspecting opposition. A second Hillside goal came from the rebound after a great save from Frankie. As Sam said "we're still in front!".

And so they were, especially when Ted went one-to-one with the Hillside goalie. There was only outcome and Heigham finished the game 4 - 2 up.

Another brilliant display as the side goes from strength to strength.
